Wongan Hills, WA

 On the road at last........

Ratings: CP ** Surroundings **

The Aboriginal name for Wongan Hills is Wangan Katta which translates to 'Talking Hills' referring to the wind which blows across the hills. Lake Ninan used to be filled with water and had an abundance of fish, plants and birdlife. Logging and land clearing caused the water table to rise and salt to be brought to the surface killing native vegetation. It's now a salt pan with only patches of water evident but restoration has begun with the planting of trees and native plants.
